UCL日本人学生会は、すでに募金活動を開始。美術学部は、作品のオークションを来週North Cloistersで行う予定（売上げは寄付）。現在準備中のイベントとして、a) ケーキを作って売る（来週）、b) 日本食レストランのシェフと連携し、寿司を売る。c）各学部で学生が主体となって授業前後に募金を行う。
集めたお金はBritish Red Crossから日本赤十字へ。

Imperial等の他のロンドン大学カレッジでも学生が主体となって募金活動は既に開始。

UCLのY教授は、ご自宅近辺に在住の日本人グループ２０家族くらいが集まり、ケーキやお寿司のチャリティーセールを行う予定。

UCLのO教授が中心となって、来週にUCLにて日本人研究者／留学生が集まり、募金活動を含めたシンポジウムを緊急開催の予定。僕も出来るだけ参加しに行こうと考えています。

私達の研究室でも、現在教授が中心となって募金を集めるチャリティの準備中です。

注；UCLとはロンドン大学のUniversity College Londonの事です。

こんにちは！お久しぶりです。。！
No I don't personally know anyone who live up in the north, but I'm very sad about what happened. I hope your family was safe as well.
Today I've been walking around medical school getting donations for the red cross (the Japan Society on campus has been very proactive too. I've never really been involved in it, but this time I felt like I had to do something...) - lots of people have donated, which was actually amazing - we're starting a new society at med school where we raise money for the red cross through cake sales etc.
One thing I've noticed too about the power plant coverage is that I'm getting mixed information... I'm also starting to think that the government is "hiding" information. Well obviously they are, I guess it's also to do with having a balance between being honest and causing mass panic. If more information was to go out, experts from around the world could be involved I suppose...
For the time being, my thoughts go out to the people who lost family and friends in the earthquake / tsunami. I'm still in disbelief over what happened. The mass chaos over nuclear power kind of puts a veil over the great number of people who lost their lives in the earthquake itself... :(
Dr Kenさん、I hope you're okay. Good luck in the fundraising too.

お久しぶり。元気にしていましたか？
It is good to hear from you. And I am happy to know you & your family are all OK.

Fortunately, my and my wife's family are all fine and safe, and I do not have any relatives living in the devastated area. Some researchers are there in Tohoku university who I know. Although I cannot yet contact, but I have heard from my friends that they are all OK. Maybe their university's mail server has not yet been fixed and my e-mail cannot reach them, I think.

Well, as you mentioned, I also think that Japanese government/Tokyo Denryoku has made wrong decision on the troubled nuclear power plant from the beginning, and of course, they likely hide something important behind them. It may be revealed later, we'll see. The way of humanitarian support by the government has been not so good so far, either.

My supervisor, the professor in our lab, has now established our strategy of rising money for Japan. I am not sure how much we can collect, but we will try as far as possible.

おはようございます

海外でも大分募金活動が広がっているようですね。
私のところでは日本人は私しかいませんので、日本人だけの会を作って活動することができません。個人で行動することにしました。

今回の被害の重大さは皆わかっていても、ハイチ大地震とは違って日本は先進国だからお金に貧窮していないのでは、と思っている人がいるようです。だので、その辺から切りくづして行かなくては。

私の動ける範囲は限られているので、少ない人からだけれども一人当たりから多く募金をしてもらうという方針で行きます。

海外のメディアも外国人達も、ただ事ではない事態になんとかしてあげたいと言う気持ちが強い様に感じます。それがそのまま募金活動や人道支援に直結している様に思います。
おっしゃる通り、日本は裕福だとの見立てで英国DECなどは全く動く気配がない様ですから、一方ではそういう見方をされてしまう事が少々残念です。いくら世界の中でも富める方の国とはいえ、「瞬発力」としての資金には限りがありますから、今必要なのは先ずは瞬発力ですよね。そこを勘違いされると辛いです。
募金は、一般的には実は街頭で集めるよりも（そりゃ葉加瀬太郎さんなんかはコンサートと言う形でホールなどでオーディエンスがいる方が集めやすいと思いますが）、オンラインの方が高額になりやすいそうです。街頭だと１ポンド以下の小銭になるものが、オンラインだと５ポンド１０ポンドと額が大きくなるんですね。僕たちもデモンストレーションも大事なので一応街頭での活動もやるのですが、おそらく多くの資金はオンラインからのものになると予想しています。
